We expect to begin work in 2014 on our joint project with Hertfordshire County Council to re-route and extend the Metropolitan line to Watford Junction. Our aim is for the £118m Croxley Rail Link to be ready by 2016.
The extension will divert Metropolitan line trains to serve the existing Watford Junction and Watford High Street stations. Trains will run to central London every 10 minutes during peak hours.
Watford Tube station will close, with new stations at Cassiobridge and Watford Vicarage Road opened in its place.
The Croxley Rail Link would:
- Improve access to public transport for local residents
- Create new links to Watford General Hospital, Croxley Business Park and Cardiff Road Industrial Estate, increasing employment opportunities
- Provide access for Metropolitan line passengers to West Coast mainline National Rail links from Watford Junction station
